    About me

I was born in Limassol, a city of the Republic of Cyprus, a small European state-island situated in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. I’m attending the Limassol Athletic Lyceum in the volleyball department, and I will be graduating in June 2026.

Growing up in a family with a sports background, with my father participating in the men’s national swimming team, gave me the ‘push’ to start taking sports more seriously. My motto since I’ve been a child is: “work hard to achieve big”.

I was engaged to swimming from 3-10 years old, which was really pleasant for me as I enjoyed it to the maximum, and it also was really helpful with developing my stamina. In addition, there is Taekwondo where I was only following it for a year, which helped me improve my self- control. After these experiences volleyball came in my life. At the age of 10, I joined AEL ‘the queen’ of women’s volleyball in Cyprus (30 championships), starting from the academies – one step before the U14 team. With only one year in volleyball, I was called up in the U14 team where I was playing as a starter, either as an outside hitter or a middle blocker. Following one year later in the summer, they also called me up for the U16 and U18 team as an outside hitter and an opposite.

Last season I was part of the U18 team, where we managed to finish this season in the top 5. The season at the school championship, we managed to come 2nd in the local championship and 2nd in the national championship.
Unfortunately, for my own personal reasons i made a big decision to change clubs, following this decision i joined Nea Salamina. Now im playing as an opposite hitter there in the U18 team, and also helping as an outside. Now we have just finished the second round and managed to get to the Final four aiming for the first place.

Through the last years with me participating in the U14, U16, U18 and school championship all at once, taught me that I had to sacrifice many things, become disciplined and efficient in order to keep up with both my athletic and academic schedule and goals. Through volleyball I also developed a leadership role, learned how to be patient with people and how to communicate with them, for the best outcome it can bring to our team.

Volleyball plays a huge role in my life and I plan to continue playing while pursuing my University studies. Being as a part of a team showed me that the closest you can have to a family are team-mates. Having experienced both amazing moments with them, such as winning very important matches against teams that are thought as the greatest, as well as difficult moments such as losing the chance to play in the final four because of one match, I learned that each individual player has a strong impact upon the whole.

I look forward to being part of a team and working together with talented young women and inspiring coaches who can help me grow as a player and as a person.

    Thank you,

    Malvina
