About me
I’m Dora Karlo, a junior at Charles Wright Academy, and a member of Puget Sound Volleyball Academy in Washington. Coming from Zagreb, Croatia, I’ve always been surrounded by the excitement of sports, thanks to my incredible parents—a two-time volleyball European club champion for a mom and a two-time Olympian and European record-holding swimmer for a dad(BYU alumni).
Growing up in a sporty household, I inherited their drive for success and developed a deep love for competition. My dream has always been to play professional volleyball in Europe, following in my mom’s footsteps. However, something magical happened when I attended a few NCAA volleyball games near my home—I fell in love with the energy and camaraderie of college volleyball in the US.
I’m not your average recruit. What sets me apart? It’s about bringing a positive spirit to the team, inspiring my teammates, and always striving to win. My mom taught me the importance of teamwork and my dad’s swimming journey instilled in me the dedication needed to break records and compete at the highest level.
In addition to my athletic aspirations, academics are a top priority for me. As an international student, I’ve embraced the challenge of adapting to a new culture and excelling in my studies. I believe in the power of balance, and I’m committed to maintaining strong academic performance while contributing my all on the volleyball court.
What makes me different? I’m not just here to play; I’m here to make a difference. I bring a cheerful and encouraging demeanor to every game and practice. I believe in uplifting my teammates, making everyone around me better, and creating an environment where success is inevitable.
In essence, I am Dora Karlo—a junior high school girl with big dreams, a love for volleyball, and a burning desire to experience the thrill of college volleyball in the US. I bring a unique blend of European flair, a sporty family background, and a commitment to both athletic and academic excellence. I am eager for the opportunity to contribute my skills, energy, and positivity to your team.
Thank you for considering me, and I hope to bring my passion for volleyball to your university!
